In 2010, the company began to expand its business model by bringing its alternative risk expertise to mid-sized trucking companies through small deductible programs and unique captive solutions. In early 2011, Transtar ventured out further by focusing not only on large and mid-sized trucking firms, but also on smaller fleets down to one unit. “We now can offer solutions for every trucking company, whether you’re a single owner operator or a large fleet with tens of thousands of units,” says Ken Palmer, President of Transtar.

Transtar’s owner/operator insurance program is ATA’s endorsed program for owner/operator insurance, offering a cost-effective and easily managed menu of insurance coverages to drivers leased on to ATA member companies. Transtar has been a faithful member of ATA since March 9, 2009. When asked why Transtar joined ATA, Senior Vice President Jeremy Theisen replied “We have clients that have been members of ATA for several years.  They brought to our attention the vast array of value- added services and networking potential companies can get through the association.   At this point, we can say our clients were completely accurate.”

 Ken Palmer also describes some of the benefits of Transtar’s ATA membership in this way “We have been involved in so many associations over the years, but nothing like the Arizona Trucking Association.   We have built many great relationships through the association, some that will last a lifetime.  The education we have gained through the association has also been helpful to us.  The transportation industry is always evolving and with the help of the ATA we can stay on top of what’s new in the trucking industry,” he said.
