Action Needed: Update Your FMCSA Portal Deadline by May 14 (MOTUS Transition)
Don’t wait—take a few minutes now to avoid headaches later.
Dear ATA Members,
I want to make sure you’re aware of an important update coming out of the FMCSA that will impact all regulated carriers.
FMCSA is launching a new registration system called MOTUS, and there are a few simple—but important—steps you should take now to ensure a smooth transition.
Deadline: May 14
Before MOTUS goes live, all carriers should log into their FMCSA Portal and complete the following:
1. Confirm your FMCSA Portal account is active
If you haven’t logged in recently, now is the time. You’ll need an active account to claim your USDOT number in the new system.
2. Verify your Company Official
Make sure the person listed is authorized to act on behalf of your company. Only this individual will be able to claim your USDOT number when MOTUS launches.
3. Update your company information
Take a few minutes to ensure everything is current. This can be done the same way you complete your Biennial Update (MCS-150) in the Portal.
Why this matters:
Taking care of this now will help you avoid delays, access issues, or administrative headaches when the new system goes live.
If you need assistance, FMCSA has resources available and can be reached at 1-800-832-5660.
As always, if you run into issues or have questions, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help.
Don’t put this off. Five minutes now could save you a lot of time later.
Sincerely,
Tony Bradley
