Safety & Maintenance Council
Our Safety & Maintenance Council (SMC) helps members improve fleet safety through training, best practices, and networking opportunities. Programs include:
- Annual Fleet Safety Awards
- Safety Professional of the Year Award
- Driver of the Year Awards
- Sharing best practices on safety and regulatory compliance
Safety Awards & Recognition
ATA honors excellence in safety through awards administered by the Arizona Trucking Association Foundation (ATAF). These awards celebrate outstanding fleets, drivers, and safety professionals who set the standard for safe operations in Arizona.
Specialized Carriers & Riggers Committee
This committee supports carriers handling oversized or specialized loads, offering guidance on safety regulations, training, and networking opportunities with industry peers.
Arizona Truck Driving Championships
The Arizona Truck Driving Championships test drivers on pre trip inspections, written knowledge, and driving skills, emphasizing safety and professionalism. Winners represent Arizona at the National Truck Driving Championships, showcasing the state’s top talent.

- Escort Vehicle Training & Certification for pilot cars
