Action Alert: Highway Funding

Dear ATA Members:

66933aSince 2001, over $2 billion in dedicated transportation funding, otherwise known as the Highway User Revenue Fund (HURF), has been transferred to pay for other government spending. Despite improving state revenues, the transfers increased to $141 million last year, including $107 million to the Department of Public Safety.

As the legislature is negotiating its budget, this week and next, we’ve heard that legislators may still be considering a $108 million HURF transfer to the general fund, despite an almost $1 billion general fund surplus.

Please contact your legislators today and ask them to stop the HURF transfers and to consider using the surplus money on one-time expenditures on much needed infrastructure projects.

Sincerely,

Tony Bradley
President and CEO

P.S. Please forward to your friends and employees and ask them to take action today.
