The goal of the Safety and Maintenance Council (SMC) is to provide membership with the best possible resources to enhance current and future safety, maintenance processes and technologies, as well as to recognize members for safety achievements. The intent is to educate and support membership in order to improve the safety of employees as well as the general public.
FLEET SAFETY AWARDS:
The ATA and the SMC Committee encourage you to participate in the Fleet Safety Award, Safety Professional Safety Award and the Driver of the Year Award. The links below provide the applications for your company, safety professional and your drivers. Applications must be submitted to the ATA no later than May 31, 2018. Winners of each category will be announced at the ATA Annual Meeting in Tucson, AZ on Thursday, September 27, 2018.

CONGRATULATIONS ATA 2016 SAFETY AWARD WINNERS
The Arizona Trucking Association (ATA) and the Arizona Transportation Education Foundation (ATEF) have announced winners of the industry’s fleet safety and individual achievement awards. Fleet safety awards are presented to trucking companies that have the lowest accident rates per million miles traveled within Arizona, but who also demonstrate significant community involvement and make contributions to overall truck safety in the state. The awards are co-sponsored by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, HELP Inc., Provider of PrePass and Transtar Insurance Brokers, Inc. Winners of fleet safety and individual awards are:
1 – 500,000 miles
Winner Bulk or Liquid Transport, LLC, (Phoenix Division)
1,000,001- 3,000,000 miles
Winner J&L Transportation (Phoenix)
3,000,001 – 7,000,000 miles
Winner Groendyke Transport (Phoenix)
7,000,001 and over
Winner FedEx Freight (Phoenix)
Chairman’s Award – Overall Grand Champion

If you would like to participate in the SMC please complete the committee member profile form below. We are asking that all SMC Council members current and potential fill out the form. Please feel free to share this with other employees in your organization who may want to be part of this group.
The 2018 SMC meetings have been scheduled for the second Thursday, every other month, 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the ATA offices starting in January 2018.
Please note: The Safety & Maintenance Council is only open to employees of ATA member companies in good standing.
