I-10 Closures scheduled in West Valley September 10th and 17th

Please be advised of two upcoming full closures of Interstate 10 near Avondale/Goodyear scheduled to occur on Sept. 10 (westbound) and Sept. 17 (eastbound).  The Arizona Department of Transportation is completing a pavement-preservation project between Dysart Road and Estrella Parkway.

AZDOT is working with the local government PIOs to share this information locally, and providing additional outreach to inform the traveling public at large. Their engineers are coordinating with the city engineers to develop traffic control plans.

Each closure is expected to last eight hours or less.  Drivers should expect heavy congestion and delays on I-10 and heavy traffic on McDowell Road and Van Buren Street while work is underway.

Here are the details that have been confirmed as of this morning:

• Westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between Dysart Road and Estrella Parkway in Avondale from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10. The westbound I-10 on-ramp at Avondale also will be closed.  All traffic must exit before or at Dysart Road, and use McDowell Road or Van Buren Street to re-enter I-10 at Estrella Parkway.
• Eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed between Estrella Parkway and Dysart Road in Avondale from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17. The eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Sarival Road also will be closed. All traffic must exit before or at Estrella Parkway and use McDowell Road or Van Buren Street to re-enter I-10 at Dysart Road.
• Drivers should plan for heavy congestion and delays. Consider traveling before or after the closures occur.
